Ho Ho Ho! Look, it’s Santa Paws!

It’s finally Christmas time. After all, what we went through this year, Christmas is just the right time to rejoice! And how could you leave your furry friend out of the festivities?

Make this Christmas merrier for your doggo as you make them a part of your festivities. Here’s what you can do:

1. Get them a Gift

Yes, your doggo is the most precious gift you’ve ever got! So a gift for them should be just as special! While you lay out gifts for your family members, don’t forget to get one for your furry friend as well!

These are some gift ideas to make your doggo’s Christmas eve pawfect!

  • Toys
  • Natural health products
  • A new name tag
  • Bandanna
  • A collar
  • Pet-friendly Shampoos and conditioners
  • Fragrant colognes
  • Paw butter and natural oils
  • Lots of treats
  • Or a Dog Box that has all of these and more!
2. Spend time with them

What’s a better way to spend Christmas time than with your family? Use the festive season to spend more time with your doggo and your family. Go on walks, teach them new tricks, bake them some yum treats and play with them! Use the festive occasion to make your bond stronger!

3. Dress them up

Accessorize your doggo with a red sweater, bandanna, a new name tag or even a fancy collar! Make matching outfits for you and them in festive colours like red, white, green, golden and brown! With festive outfits, a new look and yum treats, your doggo will definitely enjoy a pawsome Christmas!

4. Bake treats

What is Christmas without treats! While you buy yourself chocolate, candies and sweets, those are not good to give your doggo. Human sweets often contain fats and excessive sugar which is not pet-friendly. To make Christmas sweeter for your doggo, you can order them a pack of healthy treats from The Dog Box, or bake them some at home!

5. Volunteer at a shelter

Christmas is all about the spirit of giving and doing something extra for someone. This Christmas, after you’ve made the festive season special for your doggo, you can visit an animal shelter to spend time with other animals. Here’s how you can make the festive season happier and make a pawsitive impact!

  • Donate food to the animals in the shelter.
  • While you bake treats for your doggo, bake some extra and take them for the shelter.
  • Make DIY pet-friendly toys for the animals.
  • If you’re looking to bring home a furry friend, adopt from the shelter. You can read more about the factors to consider before you bring a dog home here. (Insert the link to ‘Top 10 things to keep in mind before bringing your pooch home’ article.)
6. Pet-friendly decorations

When it comes to setting up a tree in your house with lighting and other decorations, it goes without saying that it’s harmful to your dog. While you’re moving stuff around in the house, this sudden change might be stressful and unsettling for your pooch. Make sure you decorate the house gradually in small stages than all at once to avoid causing your doggo discomfort.

Keep all the hanging wires, electric items and decoration items away from your dog. Dogs don’t understand the difference between edible and inedible things and can chew or step on everything. To ensure an accident-free and safe festive season, try making your place as pet-friendly as possible.

7. Make sure your dog has a safe spot

If you’re expecting your relatives and friends to drop by for Christmas, ensure to have a safe spot for your doggo to retreat from the noise. Dogs often get exhausted by visitors and want to find a safe and quiet spot for themselves. Make sure that your doggo’s safe spot is set up is easily accessible to them and is placed in a quiet, pet-friendly room, away from the chaos and noise.

8. Give your doggo a groom

As you get new outfits and accessories ready for your doggo, ensure that they feel happily pampered with professional grooming in the festive season. A nicely brushed coat, trimmed nails and white, shiny teeth will make for a happier and more enthusiastic doggo!

Swap old bedding for a new one, old, worn-out toys for new ones and a jar full of festive treats! After all, Christmas is all about gifts and joy!

9. No overfeeding

In the festive vibes, we all tend to take an extra bite or two from our lavish meals! While it is completely all right to treat your doggo with a nice, healthy meal on Christmas Day, make sure you don’t overfeed them! They might be begging for their favourite home-baked treats, but that doesn’t mean they have to eat them all in one day! Give them healthy, nutritious food in just the right quantity that is required for them. Overfeeding may result in many health issues and can make your dog sick. That’s the last thing you’ll want to happen to your furry baby on a festival (or any other day of the year), right?
